Sunburn art is dangerous: Experts
When summer comes, it brings burning temperatures along with many other problems. Now, a new art is here that is associated with sunburn called the sunburn art. According to an expert, sunburn art is an extreme form of sunburn and it leads to increase in risk for melanoma, deadliest skin cancer.
In sunburn art, people make use of sunscreen in order to decorate their body with designs and logos. After applying sunscreen according to the design or logo they want, they go out in the sun. Then they get extreme sunburns to obtain the desired designs and logos. According to dermatologists, this could lead to increase in risk for melanoma by 50% and skin could age more than the time it takes normally.
Experts say it leads to fragmentation of the collagen and the skin looks old and more sun exposure to skin causes these changes. As per doctors, it is recommended to wear SPF 30 sun block while stepping out and re-apply it while sweating or after into the water. According to dermatologists, the spray is not able to cover the skin exposed to sun as done by the creams.
According to the expert, “You don’t need to have SPF 100; if you apply 30 SPF correctly with reapplication as needed. I think you are doing just as good a job as applying 100 SPF”.
The American Cancer Society says that in 2015, approximately 73,000 new cases of invasive melanoma will be identified in the United States and will cause around 10,000 deaths.
