According to Food and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar the suggestion for decontrolling the sugar domain shall be all set within next 10 days and passed on to other ministries for discussions.

At the moment the sugar segment is under the government's jurisdiction. The Food Ministry apportions the monthly allowance that the mills vend in the open market, and also via ration shops. Apart from this the mills are expected to sell 20 per cent of their production to the government for allocating under the PDS.

As per the views of Mr. Pawar, he said that they are grooming a suggestion which shall be made available within 10 days. Then, they shall look for the views of diverse ministries, when questioned regarding the decontrol of the sugar industry.

The minister also expressed that the monthly liberation procedure and charging system can be the probable domains where the decontrol shall be placed.

He also expressed that emphatically the Centre shall keep on setting up the Fair and Remunerative Price which is the least price that mills shall shell out for the farmers for purchasing sugarcane.
