On the eve of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) team's visit on Thursday, Saurashtra University has made all arrangements to see that it gets an 'A'.

"As far as the recommendations mentioned in the report of the peer team of NAAC after their visit in 2002 are concerned, we have taken care to see that all are fulfilled," says vice chancellor of Saurashtra University Kamlesh Joshipura.

The peer team comprising six members will visit the university on Thursday. The team would visit various departments of the university, observe, discuss on concerned issues with all related to the departments including faculties and students after a formal meeting with the vice chancellor. The team would assess the university as per its seven criteria, including teaching and learning process, research, syllabus, infrastructure, student programmes, leadership of government and innovative progress, informs Joshipura.

Schemes like seed money project, research award, Gyanyatra project, earn while learn and skill development programmes for non-teaching staff have been launched in the past four years by the university. "All these factors make me believe that we would be rated with a A grade," says Joshipura informing that the star system for accreditation has now been replaced by gradation.

All the buildings in the premises have been painted, trees were planted and a cleanliness drive was also held recently. Some of the departments of the university have been going ahead with departmental projects, sources say. The logo of the university has been changed too.
