Stuart Clark makes successful return from injury

Sydney, Mar. 8 : Australia pace bowler Stuart Clark has made a successful return to club cricket after recovering from the elbow problems which kept him out of both the home and away series against South Africa.

The 33-year-old bowler took 3-22 off 10 overs playing for Sydney University against Eastern Suburbs at Waverley Oval, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

He claimed two wickets in his final spell to leave his side just one wicket short of an outright victory.

It was Clark''s first stint since taking 4-29 from 14 overs in a single game for Sydney University in a previous appearance in late January.

Already ruled out of the home series against South Africa, Clark was then scratched from calculations for the return series after his elbow swelled up following the club game.

Australia team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris allowed Clark to bowl a maximum of 10 overs in his comeback game on Saturday.

Clark will be unable to press his claims for the coming Ashes tour of England through first class cricket, as New South Wales cannot make the Shield final and will finish their season on Sunday.

However, he should be able to get more match practice over the coming weeks, as Sydney University are set to make the finals of the Sydney club competition heading into the last round next weekend. (ANI)
