Stock Market Review
Indian Stock markets closed the first trading session of 2008 with marginal gains. The Asian markets were closed due to holiday while the US markets closed lower in their last trading session. Indian markets were not having any cues from global markets. The stocks remained range bound after a good start this morning. BSE Sensex had gained nicely in first few minutes of trade.
Reliance Energy was among major gainers today. The stock gained Rs 144 on NSE to close at Rs 2280 with a gain of 6.77%. Tata Power was another stock from power sector which gained over 6 percent to close at Rs 1567.
ITC gained nearly 4% to end the day at Rs 218. Real Estate major Unitech was another stock which gained nicely in today's trading session.
Grasim, HDFC, Tata Motors were other stocks which ended the day with handsome gains.
IFCI, TTML, ISPAT, UCO Bank and RPL were some stocks which managed to register high volumes on NSE.
Small Cap company Agro Dutch touched a 52-week high of Rs 48. Allahabad bank touched a 52-week high of Rs 130. Bank of Baroda and Canara Bank were among other banking stocks which touched 52-week high.
Divis Labs touched a high of Rs 1929. Edelweiss touched a 52-week high of Rs 1706. The stock was recommended by TopNews. Emkay Shares also touched a 52-week high (recommended by TopNews recently).
HFCL touched a 52-week high. IMP Powers (suggested multibagger by TopNews) also touched a 52-week high of Rs 330. Noida Toll touched a yearly high of Rs 81.
Stock markets are hovering around their all-time highs. The move from here onwards will depend on the news from the Global markets.
