Steyn to operate in short, sharp bursts against AussiesMelboyrne, Dec 11: South African pace bowler Dale Steyn will be used as a true strike weapon against Australia's top order in the Test series, which is termed as cricket's unofficial world championship.

Steyn said on Wednesday he expected to operate in short, sharp bursts to ensure his swinging thunderbolts were delivered full of energy in the Test series beginning at the WACA Ground next Wednesday, the Courier Mail reported.

"I'll come in and bowl quick for four overs, then get a lengthy break and come back and try to do that again," he said.

"We've got other guys and (captain) Graeme Smith rotates the bowlers pretty well," he said.

Steyn, ranked the world's No. 1 fast bowler after taking 60 wickets at 19.42 in 2008, said coming to Australia was his greatest challenge "by far".

"I haven't played in such a big Test series apart from England (earlier this year), and unfortunately after the second Test I broke a thumb," Steyn said.

"I think all the preparation has been done throughout the last two years. I'm just looking forward to getting out there and playing."

Steyn, 25, said his much talked-about hamstring would be fine.

With much of the pre-series hype focusing on him, Steyn was confident it would not affect his performance.

"I'm just going to go out and I'm still going to do what I've been doing throughout the year. Hopefully it just continues going the way it has," he said.

He was excited about bowling on the WACA Ground.

"It will be good. I've never played here before. I've never played a Test match in Australia before. From what I've heard, the wickets here are pretty similar to back home," Steyn said. (ANI)
