Ssangyong to launch Korando Sports in the UK
South Korean manufacturer Ssangyong Motors, a unit of India's Mahindra & Mahindra, is planning to launch its new Korando Sports four-door pickup in the UK market.
The Korando Sports, which was displayed at the Geneva Motor show in March as the SUT-1 concept, will be launched in the UK market in October. The vehicle will be launched with four-wheel drive and it will have a capacity to seat five people comfortably.
The company claims that the Korando Sports vehicle as a capacity to carry upto 2.3 tonnes. It is a passenger car which also doubles as a pick-up vehicle. The vehicle is powered by 2-litre 153bhp e-XDi active diesel engine and delivers a torque of 266lbft delivered between 1,500rpm and 2,800rpm.
SsangYong Motor UK CEO Paul Williams said, "It offers refinements that few of our competitors can match. SsangYong has a growing reputation for building extremely competent off-road vehicles, and the new Korando Sports draws on this pedigree."
He said that the Korando Sports is a highly capable vehicle and will be better than most of its more expensive models in the market. The company will launch two models, the SX and the EX and its price will be announced closer to its launch data in the UK.
