Sri Lanka has defeated Pakistan by 19 runs in first match of the super eight round of the ICC T20 World Cup at the Lords yesterday.

Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara won the toss and elected to field first against Pakistan.

Sri Lanka scored 150 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. TM Dilshan was top scorer for Sri Lanka who scored 46 runs in just 39 balls.

Shahid Afridi and Saeed Ajmal took two wickets each for Pakistan against Sri Lanka.

Chasing target of 151 runs, Pakistan team got to a bad start as they lost three wickets for 35 runs on the board. Pakistan skipper Younis scored 50 runs but Pakistan could only manage 131 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.

Lasith Malinga took three wickets M Muralitharan took two wickets for Sri Lanka against Pakistan.

TM Dilshan was declared man of the match for his brilliant inning of 46 runs.
