Sony showcases Vaio Z with impressive dock system
Sony has unveiled its new Vaio Z Series ultra slim laptop in an event in London this week with an impressive docking system to enahcne ts performance and connectivity options.
The new 13.3-inch model weighs less than 1.2kg and is 16.65mm thin, according to the company. Tshi makes it thinner and lighter than rival Apple’s Macbook Air. The model comes with an Sandy Bridge Core i7 chip clocked at
3.4GHz and has 8GB of memory and up to 256GB hard drive storage.
The users also have the option of adding a 'sheet battery' to double the battery life to about 14 hours in use, while adding just 680g to the weight. The sheet battery is very easy to add with a few clips and thumb screws and does not require eh laptop to be turned off.
The Japanese electronics major is offering a Power Media Dock with the model which can be used as an expansion module through an optical cable. This gives extra connectivity options including additional USB ports and VGA and HDMI outputs.
The prices for the model starts at around £1,400 and will be available from the end of July through Sony Direct, Dixons and John Lewis.
