Smith announced as SA Cricketer of the Year

Smith announced as SA Cricketer of the YearSouth African captain Graeme Smith has won the award of SA Cricketer of the Year and Test Cricketer of the Year at the 2009 SA Cricket Awards on Tuesday, for his brilliant performance as a captain and batsman in the recent times.

While AB de Villiers has been named as the One-Day International Cricketer of the Year, and JP Duminy has won the award of the Pro20 Cricketer of the Year award.

Under the captainship of Smith, South Africa has won historic series in England and Australia, while as a batsman he has scored 950 runs at an average of 63.33 in 11 test matches in last one year.

AB de Villiers has scored 987 runs in 12 matches at an average of 61.68 while in 18 ODI matches he averaged 43.85 in the last one year and he also scored a brilliant century in a T20 match in the Indian Premier League (IPL-2) while playing for Delhi Daredevils.
