After the Fabia was not able to make its mark in the Indian market, the Czech auto major, Skoda has decided to give a segment another try and the company will be launching a small car priced in the bracket of Rs. 3-5 lakh by 2012 in the domestic circuit.

However, as far as the plans for this year goes, the company, which is a part of the Volkswagen Group, will also introduce its sports utility vehicle, Yeti, and a stripped- down version of its premium hatchback, Fabia in the domestic market.

Moreover, it is to be mentioned here that the company is also planning to launch a sedan in the Indian market which is lined up for 2011 and will be competing with products like Honda City, SX4 et al.

SkodaAuto India Board Member and Director (Sales and Marketing) Thomas Kuehl said that the company will be following its strategy of launching a new model every year and as the part of its strategy, it will be entering the high volume segment by early 2012 in the Indian market.
