Sensex Surges 265 Pts In Early TradeThe 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) entered into the green terrain shortly after opening bell and was trading 265 points up as compared to its previous close, about an hour into trade.

The Sensex, which belled the day at 17,654.81, was trading 264.53 points higher at 17,835.35 from its last closure at 17,570.82.

At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broad-based Nifty surged 1.41% to 5,336.7 as against its earlier closure.

The BSE midcap index gained 1.21% and the BSE smallcap index grew 1.37%.

On Friday, the Sensex dropped 45.87 points to end the week in red at 17,570.82 on account of some profit booking seen at upper levels.

The Nifty also lost 12.25 points to end on a red note at 5,262.60.

Stock markets on Friday registered total turnover worth Rs 1,17,418.72 crore, which comprised Rs 14,314.39 crore from NSE cash segment, Rs 98,654.43 crore from NSE F and O and the remaining Rs 4,449.90 crore from BSE cash section.

On the BSE, key indices dropped during the end of the trading session with Metal index fell 1.18%, accompanied by Oil and Gas index, which declined 1.10%, Auto by 0.62%, Realty by 0.52%, MID CAP by 0.51%, SML CAP by 0.50% and Bankex by 0.40%.
