Sensex Surges 23 Pts In Opening Trade
The 30-share sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) belled the day on a flat note with a positive bias, taking signals from firmness in the worldwide bourses.
The BSE Sensex belled the day at 20,038.83 after surging 23.03 points as against its last closure at 20,015.80.
On the other hand, the broad-based Nifty also opened on a flat note.
Out of the 30 stocks that make up Sensex, 15 declined whilst other half were trading positively.
The BSE midcap and smallcap indexes were also trading in the positive terrain.
But, there was some selling action witnessed across metal and auto scrips.
The stocks, which fell more than 1%, were L&T, TCS and Mah & Mah.
On Wednesday, the BSE Sensex shut the shop after losing 44.52 points at 20,015.80.
During the day, it hit an intraday peak of 20,151.25 and an intraday low of 19,931.31.
At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the 50-share S&P CNX Nifty dropped below 6K mark on account of selling activity during the last hour.
The Nifty marked its closure after shedding 16.25 points at 5,984.40.
