Sensex Surges 100 Points In Opening TradeA benchmark index for Indian equities Monday belled the day on a firm note and was ruling 100 up as against its last closure, minutes into trade.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which belled the day at 17,692.26, gained 100.32 points to trade at 17,794.52 as compared to its previous close at 17,694.2.

At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty stood at 5,333.8, up 0.56% as against its last closure at 5,304.1.

Broader stock market indices were also trading in the positive at this time.

The BSE midcap index and BSE smallcap index gained 0.72% and 0.7% respectively.

On Friday (April 23), Sensex marked its closure at 17,694.2 after gaining 103.02 points.

On the contrary, Nifty closed the week at 5,304.1, up 41.5 points.

The top gainers in the Sensex pack on Friday included ICICI Bank, SBI, HUL, Tata Motors and Rel Power. (With Inputs from Agencies)
