Sensex Surges 0.45% In Early Trade  During opening trade, the 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which belled the day at 17,382.09, gained 79.04 points (0.45%) at 17,459.12 as against its previous close at 17,690.62.

In contrast, the broad based Nifty stood at 5,241.5, up 0.5% as against its last closure at 5,215.45.

Broader market indices were trading positively with the BSE midcap index ruling 0.88% up and the BSE smallcap index trading 1.07% higher.

On Wednesday, the Sensex saw witnessed its largest fall during the last 12 weeks and fell 310 points (1.75%) to mark its closure at 17,380.

The broader Nifty at the National Stock Exchange, also, declined by 93 points (1.75%) to end at 5,215.

Other Asian bourses also remained weak. While Japan’s Nikkei 225 declined 2.6%, stocks were down 2%in Singapore and 1.5% in Hong Kong. (With Inputs from Agencies)
