Sensex Sheds Some Gains @ 02:15 Hrs
The 30-share index BSE Sensex trimmed some of its gains during the last trading hour owing to profit booking witnessed in heavyweights.
Some buying action was seen across IT, capital goods and auto stocks, whereas banking and metal saw profit booking.
The BSE Midcap index dropped 0.33%, whereas Smallcap index was down by 0.07%.
At 02:15 p. m., Sensex gained 118.88 points to trade at 17,237.91, after hitting an intraday high of 17,275.19 and an intraday low of 17,088.92.
In the meantime, Nifty surged 25.80 points to trade at 5,143.10 after touching hitting an intraday high of 5,156.70 and an intraday low of 5,101.40.
The overall breadth of the stock market was negative as it saw 1,312 progressions as against 1,448 declinations.
Among the sectoral indices, BSE IT surged 1.60%, Capital Goods gained 1.54%, Auto zoomed 1.35%, PSU rose 1.18% and Oil & Gas soared 0.93%, whilst BSE Consumer Durables declined
0.65%, Bankex fell 0.3%, Metal dropped 0.22%, FMCG remained down by 0.01%.
The top gainers in the Sensex pack included BHEL, Infosys, ACC, Mah & Mah, Maruti and Grasim Ind.
In contrast, the major losers in the 30-share index included HDFC Bank, SBI, Bharti Airtel, Tata Power, ICICI Bank and HDFC.
