Sensex Sheds 195.43 Pts; Nifty At 5,945.15
The 30-share sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) dropped sharply shortly after opening the day at 19,841.42 points.
The Sensex stood at 19,762.4 points, down 195.43 points (0.98%) as against its earlier closure at 19,957.59.
In contrast, the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the 50-share S&P CNX Nifty declined 1.08% to 5,945.15 points.
The BSE madcap index declined 0.94% whereas the BSE smallcap index remained down by 0.91%.
On Monday (Nov 22), the Sensex ended the day at 19,957.59 after gaining 372.15 points (1.9%) as against its last closure at 19,585.44.
The Nifty ended the day at 6,010 after surging 2.03%.
Among sectoral indices, the scrips from banking, consumer durables and IT remained up and closed the day on a positive note.
The gainers list comprised Wipro, DLF, Tata Motors, and HDFC Bank.
The overall breadth of the stock market remained optimistic as it witnessed 1,908 progressions as against 1,067 declinations.
As per SEBI, FIIs lost scrips worth $318.92 million on Monday.
