Sensex remains weak on Thursday

Sensex remains weak on ThursdayThe 30-share BSE Sensex was down by around 0.4 per cent while the broad based Nifty was trading down today by around 0.3 per cent. Those which were down by around 1.5 per cent has been metal major Tata Steel and Sterlite Industries while those down by around 1 per cent were SAIL and Hindalco.

Realty stocks also saw a down scale with Unitech down by around 1.5 per cent while Orbit Corp and Indiabulls Real estate down by around 1 per cent.

Sensex also saw oil and gas index major, Reliance Industries down by around 1.2 per cent, Aban Offshore down by around 1 per cent while GAIL and ONGC down by around 0.6 per cent. Hans Goetti, CIO at LGT Bank, said that dollar would continue to strengthen in coming days and hence the market may remain choppy in coming days as well. However, information technology stocks continue to trade firm on sustained buying support.

Dow Jones Industrial was higher by 0.4 per cent while the Nasdaq Composite closed up by around 0.55 per cent. In Asian markets, traders witnessed an upscale with Nikkei up by around 0.15 per cent, Hang Seng was down by around 0.1 per cent while Kospi was down by around 0.25 per cent. Except IT and realty, all other sectors of BSE ended higher.
