Sensex Opens Weak;  Down 50 PtsIndian equities belled the day on a weak note today.

The 30-share index Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 17,744.93, stood at 17,694.42, down 50.86 points as against its last closure at 17,745.28.

In contrast, the broad-based Nifty lost 0.31% to trade at 5,306.2 from its last close at 5,322.45.

Broader market indices also remained flat at the moment.

The Sensex rallied for the fifth successive trading session on Monday by 51.08 points to mark its closure at 17,745.28 on capital inflows by foreign funds, driven by strong corporate earnings.

In the same way, Nifty also bettered further by 18.35 points to end at 5,322.45 points from its previous closure.

The heavyweight shares, which remained in public interest on Monday included Sterlite Industries, HDFC, HDFC Bank, M&M, Tata Steel. (With Inputs from Agencies)
