Sensex Opens Positive At 16,042.18The 30-share index BSE Sensex belled the day on a volatile note today.

At 9.10 a.m., Sensex, which opened at 16,042.18 points, gained 36.5 points to trade at 16,074.85 points as compared to its last closure.

In the meantime, the broad-based Nifty stood at 4,806.1 points, up 4.15 points, as against its previous close at 4,801.95 points.

Broader markets were also trading in the positive zone, with the BSE midcap index surged 0.27% and the BSE small cap index climbed 0.54% up.

On Monday (Feb 15), Sensex closed negatively after shedding 124.32 points at 16028.27. It touched an intraday peak of 16227.04 and low of 16011.82.

In contrast, Nifty marked its closure at 4799.25, down 27.60 points. It hit an intrday high of 4845.60 and low of 4783.90 in today's trade.

Amongst the sectoral indices, BSE Oil&gas Index lost 1.03% followed by BSE PSU Index, which declined 0.74% and BSE Bankex dropped 0.67%.

BSE Healthcare Index surged 0.37% and BSE IT Index was up by 0.27%. (With Input from Agencies)
