Sensex Opens Flat
Indian equities today belled the day on a flat note.
The Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange opened flat at 20,114.37 as against its last closure at 20,117.38 on Monday.
In just five minutes of trading, the 30-share index Sensex gained 20.65 at 20,138.03, while the broad-based Nifty surged 0.07% to trade at 6,039.8.
Broader stock indices also remained in the positive terrain.
The BSE midcap index surged 0.44% and the BSE smallcap index remained up by 0.45%.
On Monday (Sept 27), the Sensex closed the day after surging 72.20 points at 20,117.38 following renewed demand from local operators owing to strong inflow of funds from FIIs.
The Nifty marked its closure at 6,035.65, up 17.35 points.
In the morning trade, the BSE Sensex surged 178.46 points to 20,223.64 on account of heavy demand together with positive worldwide signals.
The Sensex hit an intraday high of 20,267.98 and an intraday low of 20,082.26.
The stock indices remained volatile during the noon trade, prior to F&O expiry on Thursday.
The gainers list on Monday comprised Sterlite Ind, Tata Steel, NTPC, ONGC, Bharti Airtel, Cipla, Tata Motors and SBI.
