Sensex Makes Some Recovery Amid Volatility
Indian equities made some recovery after shedding some of its losses amid volatility. PSU, metal and banking scrips were in buyers' interest, whereas teck, capital goods and realty stocks remained lower.
The BSE Midcap index declined dipped 0.24%, while the BSE Smallcap Midcap index fell 0.11%.
Today, the 30-share index, BSE Sensex opened at 16,552.43 after gaining 53.71 points.
At 02.45 p. m., Sensex was trading flat at 16,509.66, up 10.94 points. It also hit a high of 16,677.53 and a low of 16,371.66.
In the meantime, the broad based Nifty stood at 4,900.95, up 2.55 points, after touching a high of 4,947.70 and a low of 4,860.10.
The overall breadth of the stock market was pessimistic as it witnessed 1,245 progressions as against 1,417 declinations.
Among the sectoral indices, BSE PSU remained on top after posting a surge of 1.62% followed by Metal that zoomed 1.54%, Oil & Gas surged 0.60%, Bankex rose 0.52% and HC went up
0.11%.
The BSE Realty dropped 2.37%, TECk fell 0.75%, Capital Goods diminished 0.51% and IT was down by 0.43%.
The top gainers in the Sensex included Tata Motors, SBI, Rel Ind, ICICI Bank, Tata Power and ACC.
In contrast, Hero Honda, DLF, HUL, Maruti Suzuki, Bharti Airtel and ONGC were among major losers in the Sensex.
