Sensex Gains 60 Pts After Weak Start

sensexAfter belling the day on a steady note, the benchmark index for Indian equities gained 60 points in just 25 minutes of trading.

At 9.24 a. m., Sensex, which opened at 17,072.94, gained 60.01 points to trade at 17,112.55 as against its last closure at 17,052.54.

Meanwhile, the broad-based Nifty stood at 5,117.35 as compared to its previous close at 5,101.5, an increase of 0.31%.

Broader markets also witnessed gains with the BSE midcap index surging 0.4% up and the BSE small cap index 0.46% higher.

On Tuesday, BSE ended the day at 17,052.54, down 50.06 points after touching an intraday low of 17031.21 and an intraday high of 17130.83.

In contrast, Nifty marke dits closure at 5101.50, down 22.5 points after hitting an intraday low of 5094.35 and an intraday high of 5131.80.

Amongst the sectoral indices, BSE Metal Index shed 1.56%, BSE PSU Index declined 1.43% and BSE Oil&gas Index dropped 1.25%. BSE IT Index surged 0.85%. (With Input from Agencies)
