Sensex Ends 112 Points Down
Indian stock markets ended the day on a negative note after logging gains for two successive days.
The 30-share-index Sensex marked its closure at 16,316.28 after losing 112.63 points, while the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty ended at 4,883.95, down 30.05 points.
Broader market indices were also ruling in the red, with the BSE midcap index declined 0.62% and the BSE small cap index trading 0.38% lower.
Other Asian markets also ended the day on a passive note.
The benchmark Japanese index, Nikkei, managed to gain 0.3% to close at 10,335.69 points, whilst Hong Kong's Hang Seng closed 0.54% down at 20,422.15 points.
The South Korean Kospi ended at 1,621.19 after declining 0.38%.
Chinese bourses will reopen Monday after the week-long Lunar New Year holiday.
European benchmark indices, which opened on a feeble note, remained weak as trading progressed. (With Input from Agencies)
