Sensex Down 10.75 Pts At 10,326.93
Indian equities moved up in the positive terrain for a short while and soon slipped into the negative to trade on a flat note.
Some buying and selling is witnessed in bluechip stocks. Banking, PSU, power and banking stocks saw buying interest, whereas IT and auto stocks went down.
BSE Midcap and Smallcap index gained more than 1% each.
Today, Indian stock market opened with a loss of 33.11 points, at 10,304.57 as compared to the previous day session in which it gained 549.62 points.
At 11:54 a.m., the 30-share index Sensex lost 10.75 points at 10,326.93, after hitting a high of 10,387.19 and a low of 10,116.22.
In the meantime, the broad based Nifty stood at 3,058.60, down 14.75 points, after touching a high of 3,066.50 and a low of 2,985.00.
The overall market breadth was negative as it saw 1,369 advancements as against 844 declined.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Ranbaxy Laboratories (6.96%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (6.30%), State Bank Of India(3.76%), Tata Power Company (3.07%), ICICI Bank (2.85%), and Jaiprakash Associates (2.46%).
On the other hand, Satyam Computer Services (5.55%), Tata Motors (4.48%), Wipro (4.07%), Sterlite Industries (India) (3.71%), Infosys Technologies (2.79%), and ACC (2.62%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
