Sensex Continues Lackluster Trade
Indian bourses continued their downward trend for the second successive day today.
At 10:19 a. m., the 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex was ruling 98.35 points lower (-0.52%) at 18,879.97 with 21 components declining.
In the meantime, the broad based NSE Nifty lost 27.00 points (-0.47%) to trade at 5,664.05 with 40 components in the red.
The BSE Sensex belled the day a fall of 85.89 points at 18,892.43, whereas the Nifty started the day after losing 35.05 points at 5,656.00.
The major gainers in the Sensex pack comprised TCS, JSOL, Hero Honda, Hindalco, Mah&Mah and Wipro.
In contrast, the top losers lost contained Tata Motors, SBI, ITC, Sterlite, Maruti and Bharti Airtel.
The BSE Mid and small caps remained down by 0.02% and 0.17% respectively.
In terms of the Sectoral indices, the Oil & Gas index lost 86.9 points; the Bankex index declined 100.15 points and the FMCG index dropped 26.59 points or by 0.73%.
In contrast, the HC index gained 0.46% at 6,564.95.
The overall market breadth remained weak with 900 advancements as compared to 1,153 declinations.
