Security Beefed Up For The Foreign Delegates In HyderabadKeeping in view the recent terror strikes in the country’s financial capital, police has decided to provide special security at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), venue for the four-day `Internet Governance Forum' (IGF) 2008 event.

The security at the various star hotels have also been beefed up by the police. Apart from this, the security at the Hyderabad International Airport and the routes leading to the Hyderabad International Convention Centre has also been tightened up.  

Hyderabad is the first city in the country to host the third edition of Internet Governance Forum (IGF) from December 3 to 6, 2008.

It may be recalled that nearly 1500 delegates, including about 1000 from 90 countries across the world, are expected to take part in the event. Due to the huge number of theses foreign guests, the city police is leaving nothing to chance.

While talking on this, city Police Commissioner S Prabhakara Reddy said, “We cannot disclose certain strategic points involved in the security arrangements but we can reassure everyone that adequate and foolproof security is being arranged.”

According to the sources, a special UN security team is also coordinating the local police.     

Meanwhile, IGF official website has expressed sympathies for the families of the Mumbai terror victims. The website marks, “The IGF meeting in Hyderabad will go as scheduled. We take safety of participants very seriously and UN security team is working with the Indian police in order to provide as safe an environment as possible."
