Scramjet Hits Mach 6

Scramjet Hits Mach 6In US, the rate of development in the fields of technology is on a marvelous speed. Every day there are some new inventions and discoveries. And the US scientists and researchers have been outstanding.

Recently a new aircraft has been developed for US Air Force. It has been named X-51A Waverider and it has been placed a new record for hypersonic flight i. e. Mach 6. This aircraft has flown at 6 times the speed of sound for about 3 minutes and 20 seconds, according to the reporters.

A B-52 Stratofortress has been released the X-51A Waverider at the southern California coast this Wednesday, at which the aircraft's scramjet engine accelerated it to Mach 6.

Charlie Brink, an X-51A program administrator at the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio has informed that they are very much delighted to have successfully completed several X-51A test points in its initial hypersonic mission.

This step is equal to the 1st development from propeller-driven aircraft to jet engines. The prior record for a hypersonic scramjet burn was only for 12 seconds.
