Satyam ANZ doubles sales volume

Melbourne, Jan. 21: Satyam Computer ServicesIndia's Satyam Computer Services' Australia and New Zealand business has reported third quarter revenue of 47 million American dollars.

Deepak Nangia, Satyam Computer Services ANZ head, said 90 per cent of its third-quarter revenue came from existing customers

The result was up nearly four per cent quarter-on-quarter and was double the sales volume that the local subsidiary turned over a year ago, Australia and New Zealand managing director Deepak Nangia was quoted by Australian IT, as saying.

Nangia noted that over 90 per cent of the company's revenue for the period was drawn from existing customers and that Satyam's strategy in Australia was presently focused on winning new business with existing clients.

However, the company did also pick up some fresh clients, including the National Australia Bank, which in December tapped Satyam to provide software testing services.

Mr Nangia said that testing services was one strong performing area for Satyam locally and that the company was also enjoying success with managed services, business intelligence and data warehousing.

The new client wins and increased business with existing customers meant that Satyam's Australian and New Zealand operations now contribute 8.2 per cent of the firm's global revenue, up from about five per cent a year ago.

Globally, Satyam's third quarter revenue increased 49.9 per cent year on year to $US562.9 million. Net profit totalled $US109.7 million up 54.3 per cent from a year ago and 7.7 per cent on the second quarter. (ANI)
