Sanjay Dutt likely to be released from Pune's Yerwada Jail today

Bollywood actor Sanjay DuttMumbai, Nov 29 (ANI): Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt is likely to be released from Pune's Yerwada Jail today.

Dutt, who has been lodged in the Yerwada Jail since October 22, was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

The apex court order granting bail to Dutt and 16 other convicts reached the designated Special TADA Court on Wednesday, but the same could not be processed and forwarded to the Yerawada Jail on time.

Dutt's lawyers led by Satish Maneshinde are expected to complete the court formalities, get the order and travel to Pune to secure the actor's release.

Dutt had to furnish a bail bond of Rs five lakh and a surety of the same amount for getting the release memo.

Dutt's friend and co-convict Yusuf Nalwalla is likely to be released today.

Dutt has been sentenced for six years of rigorous imprisonment by a TADA Court under the Arms Act in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts case.

The apex court will now hear the case after six months, implying that Dutt's relief would be of at least that period.

Dutt had approached the apex court following his conviction for illegally keeping arms - an AK 56 rifle and a pistol, relating to the 1993 Mumbai blasts case.

Two months earlier, Dutt had received an interim bail from the apex court as he had not received a copy of his judgement.
