Sanghamitra Chaudhari To Debut In Bollywood With 'Strings Of Passion'
Bengali film director Sanghamitra Chaudhari is all set to make her entry into the big bad world of Bollywood with her film 'Strings Of Passion', a Hindi - English venture which deals with the controversial subject of gay relationships and parental upbringing in today's society. It is a youth-centric film which tells the story of three boys, who are also best friends in college. Neel, Rahul and Munnu, are the three protagonists of her Bollywood debut.
Since the story deals with three boys in college, is there a chance that it will be compared to the blockbuster 3 Idiots? Sanghamitra Chaudhuri does not think so because both films deal with two completely different subjects. Munnu, Sanghamitra's character in 'Strings Of Passion' becomes the victim of a gay gang rape and loses his life after the incident. This in spite of the fact that he was not a gay himself.
Apart from Subh Mukherjee, Amit Sarkar and Girish playing the lead roles, reports claim that veteran actors Zeenat Aman and Raj Zutshi will be a part of the star cast of 'Strings Of Passion'. So isn't Sanghamitra Chaudhuri scared about the fact that she is dealing with a subject which is still taboo in most parts of India? The director says that she knows she is playing with fire but is also excited that she could take the subject on an international platform through Bollywood.
