Samsung unveils world's first 'bio-plastic' handset
Samsung has shown eagerness towards launching environmental-friendly products, when it unveild the W510 and F268, two eco-friendly and power-saving phones.
W510 is the world's first bio-plastic phone. 'Bio-Plastic' is a material extracted from corn. It's unlike the common plastic which is produced from petroleum. Moreover, no heavy metals, such as, lead, mercury, cadmium and applied water-soluble coating, has been used while producing W510.
On the other hand, the Samsung F268 doesn't contain BFRs (Brominated Flame Retardent) or PVC, which are considered harmful for the environment, wildlife and people.
Also, the F268 has a feature where an alarm system intimates the user when the phone is fully charged, so that it can be unplugged from the charger. This would save a lot of energy and it follows the guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the US Department of Energy.
W510 and F268 will be launched in June in Korea and China, resepectively.
