Saina, Gurusai enter in semi-finals of World Jr Badminton Championship
It was certainly a good day for India as two of its top players, Saina Nehwal and RMV Gurusaidutt reached to the semi-finals at the World Junior Badminton Championship.
In a close encounter match, fifth seed Guru Sai Dutt defeated second seed Park Sung Min (Korea) 21-16, 14-21, 21-19. With this win, the 17-year-old Gurusaidutt has became the first Indian male shuttler to reach the semi-finals of the men’s singles.
Later in the day, women’s top seed, Saina Nehwal, routed Indonesian Lindaweni Fanetri 21-13, 21-13 in just 30 minutes. After wining the quarter-final match, an elated Saina said, “It’s not like opponents are easy, just that I’m playing too well.”
In the semis, Gurusaidutt will take on Zhengming Wang (3rd seed) of China, while Saina will face Shixian Wang (3rd seed) again from China.
