SAIL invited to set up plant in WB On Saturday, Union railway minister Mamta Banerjee announced that SAIL has been invited by the railways to build a new factory. She announced the new proposal at a function, which was organized to inaugurate a joint venture between SAIL and Railways in Kulti.

This joint venture is for a wagon making unit. The new proposal is to build a new factory, which will build freight bogies.

The bogies will be used in its proposed new Dedicated Freight Corridor. The cost of the proposed freight corridor is estimated to be 70,000 crore. Mamta Banerjee said that the railways would like to set a factory in Andal with the participation of SAIL in the venture. She further added that the factory will make freight bogies, which will be used in dedicated freight corridor.

On this occasion, Union Steel Minister Mr. Virbhadra Singh was also present. Ms. Banerjee further said that Railways would like the greater collaboration with the PSUs and it would like the SAIL to participate in big projects for wagons and coaches with Railways. She further said that these big projects will help employment situation also.
