With a couple of leaks related to the much-anticipated `Grand Theft Auto V' having made rounds on the Internet of late, Rockstar Games finally confirmed the most-recent installment in its `Grand Theft Auto' video game series on Tuesday.

Despite the fact that Rockstar Games' announcement of Grand Theft Auto V stopped short of disclosing the exact release date of the new title, the developers did mention that the game will be released worldwide next spring; and that the pre-orders will be opened next week.

Announcing Grand Theft Auto V on its official blog, Rockstar games said: "We're proud to announce that Grand Theft Auto V is expected to launch worldwide spring 2013 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3."

Describing the latest Grand Auto Theft installment as "the largest and most ambitious title in the series to date," Rockstar said that game will take place in a re-imagined Southern California.

Further elaborating that the title will unfold the "most thriving game-world" ever created by the developers, Rockstar said that the gameplay has been "set in the sprawling city of Los Santos and for miles beyond," and will take the gamers to the mountain tops as well as to the depths of the ocean.

With Grand Auto Theft V to boast an "open-world game design," Rockstar said in a press release that the game will be "a world of unprecedented scale and detail bursting with life."
