Risk Faced By 98% of Windows PCs
The Copenhagen-based security company Secunia has put forward an alarming fact that basically more than 98% of Windows computers are facing at least one unpatched application, and nearly half contain 11 or more programs at risk from attack.
A study carried out by Secunia APS claims that 98.1% of the PCs on which its Personal Software Inspector (PSI) utility was installed over the last week have one or more applications that have security updates available for downloading. There were no out-of-date programmes on only 1.9% of Window systems that ran the PSI utility for the first time.
It was revealed by the data collected from 20,000 users that nearly a third of the systems ran a vulnerable version of five or fewer programmes, while nearly half of the machines ran 11 or more insecure applications.
