Review of Castle's 'Under The Gun'
Castle’s Episode 3 - “Under the Gun” - was quite interesting. The episode dealt with a quite perplexing crime that tingled Castle’s ‘Spidey Sense’. In this episode, we got to see Beckett’s ex-lover, the ravishingly handsome Mike Royce, making an appearance on the show. The introduction sequence of Mike Royce apprehending a criminal with his superb driving skills was excellent. The romantic tension between Beckett and Royce was noticeable throughout the episode. We are sure that the constant presence of Royce in Beckett’s life will make Castle green with jealousy.
The only thing that keeps bothering us is the strange absence of Castle’s ex-wife/publisher from last season; we are yet to know about her whereabouts. In this episode, the detective went on a wild goose chase following a treasure map. Nathan Fillion as Rick Castle illuminated the show with his facial expressions. On the other hand, Detective Beckett was looking scorching hot.
Beckett’s line “I don’t think you can handle the sight of me straddling it (her bike) in tight black leather”, gave us goose bumps. It seems like the writers of the show have finally understood that the strong chemistry (read sexual tension) between Castle and Beckett is the backbone of the show, thus, they are turning up the heat. ‘Castle’ might just turn out to be the most popular show of this season.
