Low-cost airline to begin operations in Ukraine

Kiev, Ukrain MapKiev - A Hungarian low-cost airline received final approval to began operations in Ukraine, ending unchallenged control of the former Soviet republic's air-passenger market by high-price domestic carriers.

Budapest-headquartered Wizz Air obtained certification to operate an Airbus 320 aircraft on Ukrainian internal routes, and expected the maiden flight to take place in July, company officials said.

The new service will link the Ukrainian capital Kiev with the cities Odessa, Simferopol and Lviv.

Taiwan firm to sue Ukraine over Euro 2012 stadium

Archasia Design GroupTaipei  - A Taiwan firm on Friday threatened to sue the Ukrainian government for breaking a contract allowing this firm to renovate a Kiev stadium for the Euro 2012 football championship.

Archasia Design Group (ADG), in a statement released to the Central News Agency, said it will take legal action to resolve the dispute regarding Ukraine's terminating the contract, but ADG will ask its subsidiary company in China to sign a new pact with Ukraine to renovate the stadium.

Polish stock exchange eyes buy-in to Ukraine market

Ukrain GovernmentKiev- Polish Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) is considering a buy-in to Ukraine's growing stocks and securities industry, a WSE official said Wednesday.

Poland's leading trading site for company shares, the WSE is conducting talks on the purchase of Ukraine's Indeks stock exchange, said Ludwik Sobolewski, WSE President.

Results of the talks will be made public by September, said Beata Jarosz, a WSE board member, speaking at a Kiev press conference.

Ukraine's Yushchenko vetoes tariff bill for WTO violations

wtoKiev - Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko on Friday vetoed a major bill on import and export duties, charging parliament was attempting to evade World Trade Organization (WTO) rules.

Much of the tariff regulation changes supported by the pro-West wing of Ukraine's parliament were in line with WTO restrictions, but loopholes and pork barrel clauses in the suggested law made a Presidential veto inevitable, Yushchenko said.

Black community appeals to Ukraine President after street death

Kiev, Ukrain MapKiev- Leaders of the growing black community in Ukraine appealed to President Viktor Yushchenko for assistance after the street death of another African national, Korrespondent magazine reported Wednwesday.

Sunday Alderaji, an evangelical preacher and a leading member of the Nigerian diasphora in the Ukrainian capital Kiev, told the STB television station that increasing racism in the former Soviet republic was responsible for almost daily attacks against dark- skinned persons, and murders on monthly basis.

"The situation is getting worse and worse," he said.

Ukraine predicts inflation slowdown to 16 per cent
