Oxidized linalool in shampoos and soaps can cause eczemaRecent study revealed that many people are allergic to air oxidized form of the linalool, a fragrance ingredient. Linalool is added in many shampoos, skin conditioners and soaps but it is naturally found in lavender, mint, and other plants.

Researchers found that 5 percent and 7 percent people out of 3,000 study subjects were allergic to that oxidized linalool. Eczema can lead to rashes, swelling, itching and cracking.

Swedish poultry producer recalls frozen chicken Stockholm - Swedish poultry producer Lantmannen Kronfagel said Friday it has recalled its frozen chicken products, following new discoveries of glass in the food.

"Two of the incidents concern frozen whole chicken, and the other two concern chicken drumsticks," chief executive Jan Henriksen said.

Henriksen said the recall would give the group "time to get to the root of the problem without having to worry about glass turning up in more frozen chicken."

Clothes retailer H&M reports lower first quarter profits Stockholm  - Swedish clothes retailing company Hennes & Mauritz's (H&M) first quarter pre-tax profits declined 12 per cent, the group said Thursday, citing some effects due to the economic recession.

The group posted a pre-tax profit of 3.55 billion kronor (438 million dollars) for the period December 2008 to February 2009, compared to 4.05 billion kronor for the first quarter in the previous financial year.

Sales, excluding value added tax (VAT), increased 18 per cent to 23.3 billion kronor, the group said.

Report: Ford in discussions over sale of Volvo Cars

Report: Ford in discussions over sale of Volvo Cars Stockholm  - US car giant Ford is in touch with "a number" of prospective buyers over its loss-making Swedish subsidiary Volvo Cars, reports said Wednesday.

London-based Ford spokesman John Gardiner told the online edition of Goteborgs-Posten he could confirm that Ford is in discussions about the future of Volvo.

Gardiner told Swedish radio news that Ford had contacted its employees in the west coast city of Gothenburg about the discussions.
