Ranchi, Apr 4 : With an eye on the upcoming general elections, Jharkhand''s politicians are wooing voters through songs in the local dialect.

This is the latest gimmick adopted by them to reach out to voters.

Local singers and music composers in Ranchi are busy these days recording several songs for various political parties.

Ranchi, Apr. 1 : Actor-turned politician Hema Malini has expressed disappointment over the Supreme Court decision, which denied Sanjay Dutt the permission to contest in Lok Sabha elections.

"It was very disappointing. Sanjay is a great human being just like his father. But his past record came in the way due to which the Supreme Court denied him permission to contest in the polls. If he would have contested the elections from Lucknow, then he would have definitely won," BJP MP Malini told media in Ranchi.

Ranchi, Mar 21 : Cricket fans of Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni gathered here in large numbers on Saturday to celebrate India's historic win over New Zealand.

Fans burst crackers, distributed sweets and danced to express their happiness.

"We are celebrating because under the leadership of Dhoni India has won a test match in New Zealand after 33 years. All the people here are very happy. We are going to pay a visit to a religious shrine to pray that India win the series as well," said Gautam, a young cricketer.

Ranchi, Mar 11 : A raging forest fire in the Saranda forest of Jharkhand has become a cause of concern for locals as well as the authorities.

Locals say that frequent fires at Saranda, one of the largest Sal forests in Asia, are a result of the carelessness on part of the nomadic people who burn wood logs to cook food near the forest area.

People also carelessly throw away cigarette butts that have not been stubbed out.
