Eight killed, four injured in road mishaps in Rajasthan

jaipur, rajasthanJaipur, Aug 16 : At least eight people have been killed and four others injured in two separate road accidents in Rajasthan today.

According to police sources, six people including two women were killed and two injured when a Tata-Sumo in which they were travelling collided with a truck while overtaking it and overturned in Murena police station on Dholpur-Gwalior national highway in Dholpur district.

The deceased have been identified as Vishwanath, Satwati, Gangadevi, Jaiprakash, Bhupendra, and Vinod Meena.

Rescue operations begin as 250 pilgrims trapped in Rajasthan cave temple

Kota (Rajasthan), Aug 11 : Rescue operations resumed this morning at the Geparnath temple in Kota District of Rajasthan, where at least 250 people have been stranded after the stairs leading to the Mahadeva temple collapsed leaving one pilgrim dead on Sunday.

The incident took place on Sunday afternoon when the staircase caved in. Nearly 70 devotees were inside the temple when the ladder collapsed due to heavy rush of pilgrims.

The Army has been requisitioned to assist the district administration in rescue operations. Helicopters have also been kept ready in case of any emergency.

Darkness hampered the rescue operation and temporary lights were installed to carry out the exercise, official sources said.

Japanese surrogate baby finds saviour in an Indian

Jaipur, Aug 8 : A new born Japanese surrogate baby, Manjhi, has found a saviour in an Indian, who has come forward to feed and look after the 13-day-old infant.

The baby has now found a ''mother'' in Shweta, wife of a friend of her parents, who after having delivered her own baby recently, has come forward to feed Manjhi like her own child.

"I thought about feeding Manjhi because she does not have her mother with her. Everybody is busy making his or her own stories, but nobody is concerned about the child," said Shweta.

The doctors at the hospital are pleased with the development as they feel that now Manjhi will be able to get the all the necessary nutrients that only a mother''s milk can provide to a new born.

Rajasthan villagers plant 105,000 saplings in three minutes 50 seconds

Over 8,000 schoolchildren and more than 6,000 villagers participated in the mass plantation drive organized with the objective of encouraging villagers to take up afforestation and bring greenery to the desert State.
