Ludhiana authorities dispatch relief material for Punjab flood victims  Ludhiana/Varanasi, Aug 21 : Authorities in Ludhiana have dispatched relief material for flood victims in numerous villages in the state.

Around 40 trucks loaded with relief material including food, water and tents, left for the affected areas from Ludhiana on Wednesday.

"Trucks have drinking water, food material and tents, Infact, we have tried to include everything that was asked for by the victims," said Bikram Singh Manjithia, Public Relations Officer, Punjab.

Flood situation worsens in Patna, Punjab

Danapur/Moga, Aug 20 : The flood situation has worsened in many parts of India with major rivers in spate.

Most rivers in Bihar, including Ganga, Punpun, Ghaghra, Burhigandak, Bagmati, Kosi and Mahananda are flowing above the danger level.

Following a breach in the Kosi Barrage in Nepal, a red alert has been sounded in Supaul, Madhepura and Araria districts of Bihar.

Residents in Danapur, a satellite town of Patna, said that the situation was grim and they had already incurred huge losses on account of damage to property and cattle.

Flood situation grim in Punjab

Lohian (Punjab), Aug 17 : People of Ferozpur district in Punjab are facing a bleak future with the rising river Satluj submerging around 12 villages.

Army has been deployed in relief and rescue operations in the flood affected areas and also helped out in shifting flood victims to safe places.

The administration has assured that very soon the situation would be brought under control and the people relocated to safe places.

"Around 10-12 villages have been affected by floods. The police and the army are all together trying to provide relief to the people. The water level has already come down," said Ajit Singh Pannu, Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar.

''Singh is Kinng'' which released on Friday, ran into trouble when a group of protesters brandishing naked swords and sticks, gathered outside Annan theatre in the city and damaged the film posters and display windows at the theatre, causing disruption in the show.
