Taliban lists 43 ‘wanted’ leaders, ministers for punishment under shariaPeshawar, Jan. 26: Minutes after Pakistani political leaders appealed the Taliban to lay down their violent methods in Swat valley and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) to solve their differences through dialogue, the Taliban has announced a list of 43 people - including former and incumbent ministers - who they have declared `wanted' and liable to punishment under the Taliban law (sharia).

The announcement was made by Mullah Fazlullah, the Talibani cleric, on his FM radio channel, The Daily Times reports.

Pak Taliban denies death of commander Omar Khalid

PakistanPeshawar, Jan. 22: Tehrik-I Taliban Pakistan has denied that its commander Abdul Ali, alias Omar Khalid has been killed in a military strike in Mohmand Agency.

Reports said commander Abdul Ali, alias Omar Khalid, was killed in last night's military offensive in Mohmand Agency, while his second-in-command Shakil had been injured.

The Daily Times reported that Khalid's house was destroyed in the operation while he was inside.

"Omar Khalid is alive and we shall present him before the media in a day or two," a Taliban commander said.

The arrested militant, Zabi ul-Taifi, was among seven fighters surrounded by Pakistani forces as they met in a house on the outskirts of Peshawar, The Telegraph reported.
