Peshawar, Jan. 22 : Jumping into the politics being played in the country over the terror hit Swat and FATA region, the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has offered to play the role of mediator between the government and the militants, but only after the authorities accept its list of demands.

"We offer our services for improvement of situation in Swat and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) through mediation between the government and the militants on the condition that the government implement the 14-point resolution passed by the joint session of the Parliament in letter and spirit, enforce Shariah in Malakand Division and pay compensation to the affected people of the long-drawn military operation in the militancy-hit regions," The News quoted the Provincial President of Jamaat-e-Islami Sirajul Haq, as saying.

Talking to mediamen here, Haq attacked the Pakistan government for failing completely in protecting the citizens of the province and the tribal areas.

He said that the government has lost control over the region and have no control over the situation.

"The so-called nationalist rulers in the province have completely failed to protect the people of the province and adjacent tribal areas and the writ of the government has been restricted to merely one square kilometre," Haq said.

He also warned about a people's march towards Islamabad to stage protests against the on-going military operation in the tribal region.

"We will sit-in in front of Parliament House from tomorrow (Friday) and would stay there till the government stops military operation in their areas and pay compensation for the human and material losses," he said. (ANI)
