Ninety-year-old burglar arrested in PeruLima  - A 90-year-old woman was arrested in Lima for taking part in a burglary, police said Tuesday.

The woman, who looked like a sweet grandmother, arrived with two other women at a house that was for sale in the neighbourhood of Los Olivos in the Peruvian capital. The elderly woman distracted the owner of the house with a pretend negotiation, while the other two stole valuable objects.

When they were found out, the three women fled for a taxi that was waiting for them. The elderly woman, however, did not make it fast enough and had to run off. She was arrested just two blocks away.

32 killed, 100 injured in two car accidents in PeruLima  - At least 32 people, among them two Italian tourists, were killed and about 100 injured in two traffic accidents in Peru, police said Tuesday.

Two buses and a truck collided on the road linking Arequipa, Puno and Cusco in southern Peru, about 1,100 kilometres south of the capital Lima, police said. Twenty people were killed, among them the two tourists, and about 60 people were injured in the crash.

In a second accident about 600 kilometres south of Lima on Monday, 12 people were killed and 39 injured when a bus plunged into a crevice.

Archaeologists find 277 bronze artifacts in Peru

Lima (Peru), Dec 22 : An archaeological research has led to the discovery of 277 bronze artifacts at the Archaeological Park of Sacsayhuaman located on the outskirts of Cusco in Peru.

According to the news agency agencia peruana de noticias, the artifacts were found by skilled workers and professional staff of Peru's National Institute of Culture in Cusco
(INC).

179 plumbs (cylindrical cone-shaped weights) of different types and 98 nose rings were discovered inside the enclosure No. 06 of the archaeological site of Inkacarcel that, according to preliminary investigations, was a warehouse or "qolqa".
