IFFI: ‘Tulpan’ Bags Golden Peacock AwardRenowned Kazakh film maker Sergei Dvortsevoy’s film “Tulpan” won the Golden Peacock award and a cash prize of Rs 4 million on the closing day of the 39th International Film Festival of India in Panaji.

In the past, ‘Tulpan’, has also won the best feature film and the Golden Eye awards at the Montreal Film Festival and Zurich Film Festival respectively.

The film is also Kazakhstan’s official entry for the forthcoming Oscar awards in the foreign film category.

Goa government has no plans to hand over German rape case to CBI

GoaPanaji (Goa), Oct. 14 : A case has been registered against Rohit Monseratte, the eldest son of Atanasio Monseratte, Goa''s Education Minister, following a German woman''scomplaint that the former has been sexually and mentally harassing her minor daughter.

Police sources said 21-year-old Rohit has been charged with offences including rape, abetement to crime and outraging the modesty of a minor girl.

A German woman had lodged her complaint on October 2.

Scarlett Keeling murder accused released on bail

Scarlett KeelingPanaji, Sept. 24 : A suspect in the rape and murder of a British teenager Scarlett Keeling was released on bail after investigators failed to submit charges against him, a lawyer for the Keeling family has said.

Samson D''Souza is facing a number of accusations, including raping the 15-year-old and assisting in her murder.

According to The Telegraph, D’Souza was freed after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) did not submit a list of charges against him.

The paper quoted Vikram Varma as saying that the CBI has applied to cancel the bail and that the application should be heard in court on Friday.
