Greenpeace tells major emitters to move from words to deeds

New Delhi/Washington, Apr. 28 : As senior diplomats and politicians from 17 biggest greenhouse gas emitting (1) countries assembled in Washington DC for the climate talks under the `Major Economies Forum' (MEF), they couldn't have missed a couple of Greenpeace climbers dangling below a huge banner bearing a picture of our beautiful blue planet and the words "Too big to fail".

"Time is running out. This meeting is an opportunity to fast track discussions on avoiding catastrophic warming and inject some much needed urgency and cooperation into the ongoing UN climate talks, which are dragging on at a snail's pace," said Karen Sack, Greenpeace International Political Director.

India advises citizens against visiting swine flu-hit nations New Delhi  - India has advised its citizens against visiting nations hit by a swine flu outbreak and is screening passengers coming from these countries, news reports said Tuesday.

The federal Health Ministry held a meeting Monday to discuss measures to prevent the flu, which spreads among humans through contact with infected pigs, from reaching India.

After the meeting a travel advisory was issued against visiting Mexico, the United States, Britain, France, Canada and New Zealand, the PTI news agency reported.

Petronet LNG Net profit grows 70.24% in Q4Petronet LNG, the nation's largest liquefied natural gas importer, has registered 70.24 growth in its net profit to Rs 204.35 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31.

The company had a net profit of Rs 120.03 crore in the same quarter ended March 2008.

Further, the company's total income also rose to Rs 2,654.88 crore in the quarter, up by 51.47% from Rs 1,752.65 crore in the previous year-ago quarter.

For the full year ended March 31, 2009, the company posted a net profit of Rs 518.44 crore, up 9.22 % as compared with Rs 474.66 crore in the last fiscal.

“The Commission has not found anything in the CD containing the speech of the Prime Minister,” Deputy Election Commissioner J. P. Prakash told reporters here.

Government reviews preparedness for Swine FluNew Delhi, Apr 27: After keeping in view the reported human cases of Swine Influenza A (HINI) caused by a re-assorted Swine flue virus, the Government has instituted a series of preventive actions that include surveillance at Ports and International Airports.

The Health Ministry is keeping watch on the situation through Integrated Disease Surveillance units in the states and has issued travel advisory for those traveling to the affected areas to defer their plan.
