Los Angeles - Darius Miles is back on the Memphis Grizzlies, which is bad news for the Portland Trail Blazers.

Defying a request by the Trail Blazers that could have considerable financial impact, the Grizzlies on Saturday re-signed Miles to a 10-day contract, three days after waiving him.

The Grizzlies announced the move just one day after Blazers team president Larry Miller sent an email to every NBA team threatening legal action if Miles was signed for the sole purpose of disrupting Portland's finances.

Los Angeles  - President-elect Barack Obama is getting some help from a superhero as he prepares to take charge of the United States in a time of crisis.

Obama will appear in a special inauguration issue of the Spider- Man comic book, in which the superhero will save the day when an imposter tries to snatch the reins of power at the swearing-in ceremony of the president.

The special issue will hit news-stands on Wednesday, just six days before Obama's inauguration, and is likely to immediately become a collectors' item.

At the 14th annual Critics' Choice Awards 2009, ace Bollywood singer-music composer A R Rahman has been awarded with the Best Music Composer award for Danny Boyle’s movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, which continued its inexorable march as 2008’s standout film.

Los Angeles  - Orlando Magic centre Dwight Howard and reigning league Most Valuable Player Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers remain the leading vote-getters in their respective Eastern and Western Conferences, after the fourth returns of the 2009 NBA All-Star balloting was announced Thursday.

Howard, the league's top rebounder, leads all players with 2,102,368 votes, while Bryant is next with 1,903,798.

Washington, January 8 : Batman blockbuster `The Dark Knight' grabbed a handful of trophies at the People''s Choice Awards in Los Angeles on January 7.

The 2008 superhero film, which grossed more than 500 million dollars, topped the claimed Favorite Superhero, Favorite Movie, Favorite Onscreen Match-Up, Favorite Action Movie and Favorite Cast categories.

Batman Christian Bale, co-star Aaron Eckhart and director Christopher Nolan were honoured with a lengthy standing ovation as they walked the Shrine Auditorium stage to claim their prizes.

Los Angeles - The Batman film The Dark Knight won top honours at the US award programme the People's Choice Awards, winning awards in all five categories in which it was nominated.

The film - which starred Christian Bale as the superhero Batman and the late Heath Ledger - won favourite film as well as favourite action film, cast, superhero and on-screen match up (of Bale and Ledger).

Heath Ledger died a year ago at the age of 28 from a overdose of prescription medications.
