‘Slumdog Millionaire’ Wins 5 Critics' Choice Awards
At the 14th annual Critics' Choice Awards 2009, ace Bollywood singer-music composer A R Rahman has been awarded with the Best Music Composer award for Danny Boyle’s movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, which continued its inexorable march as 2008’s standout film.
The event was held at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in LA on Thursday (Jan 08).
The movie, which emerged as the big winner during the event, won five awards under different categories including Best Picture, Best Director (Danny Boyle), Best Writer (Simon Beaufoy), Best Young Actor / Actress (Dev Patel) and Best Composer (AR Rahman).
Actor Sean Penn was honored with top award for best actor for his movie ‘Milk’, and Heath Ledger won the award posthumously for his role as a Joker in ‘The Dark Knight’.
Kate Winslet received supporting actress award for her role in ‘The Reader,’ while Anne Hathaway for ‘Rachel Getting Married’ and Meryl Streep, for ‘Doubt’ won a combined award for best actress.
Bruce Springsteen walked away with the song award for ‘The Wrestler.’
