Antony on Saturday expressed the hope that India will operate two to three aircraft carriers simultaneously in near future in order to ward off threats from terrorism and low intensity conflict perpetrated by state with help of non state actors.

Navy given charge for complete overhaul of coastal securityKochi, Feb 28 : To enhance security and maintain the supremacy of the country in wake of the Mumbai terror attacks and to minimize threats from the sea, the Government has completely overhauled coastal security by designating the Navy as the nodal authority responsible for overall maritime security.

The Coast Guard, the State Marine Police and state agencies will assist the Navy in maintaining maritime security, which includes coastal and offshore security.

Defence Minister A. K. Antony said the Government has taken a number of steps to strengthen maritime security agencies like the Navy and the Coast Guard by increasing their assets like manpower, ships, boats, helicopters, aircrafts, boats, etc.

Health Insurance To Cover 3500 Families In The Industrial Belt Of Eloor

Here’s good news for the people living in the industrial belt of Eloor.

State Industries Minister Elamaram Karim had said that the administration will soon launch a pilot project of medical insurance to cover 3500 families in the selected nine wards of Eloor Grama Panchayat from April 1.

Under this scheme five members of each family will be given Rs 30,000 with an annual premium of Rs. 506 per person.

The minster also made it very clear that the offered reimbursements of the National Health Insurance Programme of the Rashriya Swasthya Bima Yojana amounting to Rs 30,000 can also be availed by members of each family.

Kerala tour operators peeved at govt ad

Tour operators and hoteliers are peeved with an advertisement issued by the ministry of civil aviation, which doesn't indicate the presence of Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode airports on the aviation map. The ad, the ministry's share of the pre-election PR drive of the UPA government, mentions only the Cochin International Airport.

The ad, which depicts the five-year growth of the sunrise sector through a comparison chart of major international air routes, claims that even the "smallest cities are connected to the world". Srinagar, Amritsar, Lucknow, Gaya, Guwahati, Kolkata, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Pune, Nagpur, Goa, Hyderabad, Mangalore, Bengaluru and Trichy join the original connectivity points of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kochi on the map.
